Motivation is hard… especially when you fail a lot of times. You put in all the work you can… but then nothing comes out of it. Trust me… I have experienced this many times and that too recently. I tried out for many positions and didn’t get any of them but I am not sad.

When you try out something new, the important thing is that you tried. Trying something new is the first step to becoming successful. If you never try then how will you know if you like something or not? You may have heard from other people that something is really good and that you should do/try it. But until you do it for yourself you will never know. This reminds me of this quote:

“You will never know if you never try”

This quote resonates with me often, and that is why I try to try out new things in life. Don’t be afraid to try new things and keep your mind open to new possibilities. If something isn’t working out for you, maybe it wasn’t meant it be… maybe it’s life’s way of telling you to move on and try something else. It’s never the end of the world if you don’t get something you really wanted your entire life… maybe there is something out there that is way better for you!

Here is a really inspirational story I found circling then internet and I wanted to share it with all of you! I am not sure who this story really belongs to but it’s about Jack Ma.

The day I remember most vividly is not the day I won a prize, but the day my parents decided to cut dance out of my life. Although I can only recall it through blurry eyes, I remember weeping and screaming, pounding the ground with both fists and shouting words I instantly regretted. I had already dressed in my uniform and had one foot out the door when my mom announced the news. Since that moment, I had been regretting that I couldn’t convince my parents to let me continue. It clouded my vision for my future. Looking back after four years, I feel no regret. Because I had quit dance class, I was able to move up a level in choir and start practice during the time I had dance. Compared to the other girls, I was pretty mediocre at the choreography but when I moved to the new choir class, I suddenly felt so happy and excited to be singing with familiar faces. The teacher even let me sing a solo part for our annual concert. I realized that without quitting dance, I wouldn’t have seen this new branch in my life. A year ago, I set a goal to become a skilled dancer, but now, I can say with pride that I have changed that goal into writing music. Having dreams feels great, it gives you a goal to work for and motivates you to hold your head high. Dreams like that are as fleeting as the dreams you have at night. Something happens and you suddenly change your dream into something else. Even if you have invested a lot of time into one subject, the moment you feel like it isn’t right should be the moment you open up to see what your heart tells you to go for. Even if it is something you might not have confidence in, go for it. You have the passion so you will have the will to follow through. Live your dreams!

Happy New Year!

It takes effort to bring about change At the beginning of every year, people always say, “New year, new me,” or “this new year brings about a clean slate,” but in reality, nothing changes. You are still the you that you were in the past, because the coming of a new year cannot erase the past. I always tell myself, “I’ll work harder this year” or “I can handle more and do more this year” or “maybe I can hang out with my friends more and not be as much of an empty sac of loneliness,” but nothing changes, and I find that I’m still the same person that I was the year before. Today, on the first day of 2016, I want to tell you that even though it’s become natural to make New Year’s resolutions and break them not long after making them, you cannot change your life and do something different unless you make an effort to do so and stick to your resolutions. Year after year, I rang in the new year, thinking “this year will be different. This year things will change,” and things never changed because I didn’t do anything about it. A New Year’s resolution is not a wish granted by a genie; it will not come into fruition unless you do something to make it. As I’m saying this, I also want you to know that even the smallest steps can lead you to your goal. As long as you try to make things different this year, things will change. The takeaway message that I want you to hear on the first day of this new year is that if you want to change something about your life, you need to try to make it change.

Happy New Year! Hope you all have a wonderful, fantasic and prosperous year ahead!! Stay Happy! ~Silver Lining
