The World Is A Masterpiece.

I can see the entire lake, capturing every essence of its beauty. Camping–its provides one with a sense of solitude; a swift, gentle breeze through your hair, birds chirping in the background, the soft waves of the lake patting the your toes as you sit on a boulder on the shore. It is almost as if you lose all sense of time here; without realizing it, it is getting late. As it sets, the sun casts its light–its goodbye for the day. It’s a beautiful sight. Sitting on that rock watching the lake as the sun slowly begins to sink into the night. Deep reds and oranges cover the sky in a swirl of beauty. The wind has stopped blowing and everything is still. The splashes on your toes begin to settle. Even Time has decided to take a break and let Nature do what she does best. The colors of the sky are richer than before. It reflects its beauty onto the lake, urging you to stay.  You’ve reached the climax of the night: birds are singing, the water is dancing, everything is a masterpiece. A smile settles on your face. The world is a masterpiece.

Gradient Hourglass

Some time ago, I remember what my great aunt said:

“Oh, there is more than day and light.”

“Look far beyond what comes to sight.”

At five of age, I went to sleep, head on the bed.

Now prime in youth, my future strong and heart in beat.

“Life complete,” I thought, “Still what could

My dear Aunt Faith have meant. I’m good.”

I’m twenty now, my brain still can’t rest in its seat.

Like stormy clouds, my hair is grey; my tears are pale

“I see what she had meant to say”

The present and the future, day

But past and the old are knights to guide us on our tales.

Your friends are your light…

Knowing when you are in an unhealthy friendship is probably the most important part of any relationship. Sometimes it’s hard to tell while other times, it may be so blatantly obvious, but you still can’t see it because you are afraid of losing a friend.

Friends are supposed to be your light in the dark, supporting you through life. They aren’t supposed to discourage you from trying new things. They should be on your side, provide you with advice when you are going through a rough time, and protect you from making bad decisions. The tough part about being a friend is that it is hard to know when you are being discouraging, or a conscience for someone you care about. Nevertheless, you should talk to your friends if you are ever in an uncomfortable position with them. A true, caring friend will understand and help you.

I have a friend that I met in Junior High. Because of our similarities, we became close friends in a short period of time. We share everything with each other and she is the best friend I can ever ask for. Because of how close we are, it is often hard for me to see the pessimist that often appears within her. She often discourages me from doing things I want to do, but I often cannot tell if it is because she wants what is best for me or not. Talking things out is the what helped the reason why I still consider her to be my best friend. I know that she cares about me and only wants to help me, because that is what a true friend is. Nevertheless, there are always situations where the decision is yours and it all comes down to what you want. Your friends are there to help guide you down the right path.

Turn the Light on In order to Find Happiness

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”

Possibly my most favorite quote was said by Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter franchise. Happiness is not always something that comes to us; sometimes, we have to go looking for it. But that’s why we have hope. Hope gives us the motivation to find happiness. In some ways, hope is our happiness. It is something that we hold on to, but is easy to slip out of our hands.

For me, after a particularly gloomy day, I feel too upset to even bother with anything. On those days, I have to look for happiness, usually by doing something I love. My passions and hobbies are my light. They are what get me out of my rut of depression. I’ll admit, it is hard to do the things you love when you don’t have the motivation to do so, but life can be hard. And that’s why we have hope. In those times where you cannot find hope, or light, in the darkness, people who care about you will be hopeful for you. Throughout life, we are forced to face dark days quite often–more than we want. That may not be our choice, but we do have a choice in how we can find the light.

A Small Glint of Light

You feel down at times and lose hope. But no matter what, there will always be light even in the darkest of times. If you just look up from the darkness, there will be sunshine and hope. Sometimes, you may feel there is no way out of the darkness and will stay depressed and sad, having no hope for the future. I just want you to see that everything may seem broken in pieces, but we are here for you. The darkness may overcome, but it will never completely. Darkness cannot exist without light. The light will always be there for you.

There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.

You may be broken, but that just leaves room for healing.
