Silver Lining

A loving community finding the silver lining.

Don’t give up!

Motivation is hard… especially when you fail a lot of times. You put in all the work you can… but then nothing comes out of it. Trust me… I have experienced this many times and that too recently. I tried out for many positions and didn’t get any of them but I am not sad.

When you try out something new, the important thing is that you tried. Trying something new is the first step to becoming successful. If you never try then how will you know if you like something or not? You may have heard from other people that something is really good and that you should do/try it. But until you do it for yourself you will never know. This reminds me of this quote:

“You will never know if you never try”

This quote resonates with me often, and that is why I try to try out new things in life. Don’t be afraid to try new things and keep your mind open to new possibilities. If something isn’t working out for you, maybe it wasn’t meant it be… maybe it’s life’s way of telling you to move on and try something else. It’s never the end of the world if you don’t get something you really wanted your entire life… maybe there is something out there that is way better for you!

Here is a really inspirational story I found circling then internet and I wanted to share it with all of you! I am not sure who this story really belongs to but it’s about Jack Ma.

Like clouds on the sky

Floating as they fly.

The gentle sunshine from east to west

We wait, as the sun decides to set.

The night awaits you,

The deep, dark blue.

Oh, my darling, my sweet.

Bundled in thick warm fleece.

May no bad dreams awake you.

And may He protect you.

Goodnight, my dear.

Until the morning cheer.

Story: Getting enough sleep isn’t impossible. Enjoy your rest!

It’s not impossible! I promise you, getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night is not impossible.

I realize that everyone has busy schedules, so it is hard to finish everything you have to do in order to get an appropriate amount of sleep. Procrastination gets us all. It is hard to go through an entire day of school where all we do is focus on our work, only to come home to do exactly the same thing. Taking a break and watching a movie may seem tempting, but it is important that we find the self control to finish everything we need to do.

I have always been a person who values my sleep, right from a young age. I place limits on myself so others do not have to tell me to go to bed or start working on my homework. By doing so, I have been able to get the right amount of sleep for me.

My friends are not one to value sleep as much as they should, and it worries me to see them exhausted and unenthusiastic the following day. There are always people who worry about you, wanting to make sure you get the proper rest you need. We do too! Please go and enjoy your rest!

Challenge: Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.

Challenge: Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.

Taking time to rest has its benefits. Not only does it improve your mood by making you more energetic, it helps you do better in school and sports.  🙂 Head to bed!

Hope Sets You Free

The clock ticks as moons fly by

Stars run quick as blue tears dry

Crescent shadow shine on me

Turn me into what I’ll be.

Swish swish swoop swoop

Jingle jingle stop

My head spins loops

As I hear the clock

In the dark, I still can see.

Heart burns bright, my legs are free.

You are never too old…

The day I remember most vividly is not the day I won a prize, but the day my parents decided to cut dance out of my life. Although I can only recall it through blurry eyes, I remember weeping and screaming, pounding the ground with both fists and shouting words I instantly regretted. I had already dressed in my uniform and had one foot out the door when my mom announced the news. Since that moment, I had been regretting that I couldn’t convince my parents to let me continue. It clouded my vision for my future. Looking back after four years, I feel no regret. Because I had quit dance class, I was able to move up a level in choir and start practice during the time I had dance. Compared to the other girls, I was pretty mediocre at the choreography but when I moved to the new choir class, I suddenly felt so happy and excited to be singing with familiar faces. The teacher even let me sing a solo part for our annual concert. I realized that without quitting dance, I wouldn’t have seen this new branch in my life. A year ago, I set a goal to become a skilled dancer, but now, I can say with pride that I have changed that goal into writing music. Having dreams feels great, it gives you a goal to work for and motivates you to hold your head high. Dreams like that are as fleeting as the dreams you have at night. Something happens and you suddenly change your dream into something else. Even if you have invested a lot of time into one subject, the moment you feel like it isn’t right should be the moment you open up to see what your heart tells you to go for. Even if it is something you might not have confidence in, go for it. You have the passion so you will have the will to follow through. Live your dreams!
