“It matters not what someone is born as, but what they grow to be” – Albus Dumbledore

I wanted to share this quote with you guys 🙂 It really resonates with me since it reminds me that I create myself. I sometimes feel that I have to just “work with what I got”. I forget that us, humans, are adaptable. We do great with change. In fact, we have been adapting since forever! I feel like it is important to remind ourselves that we CAN change if we put in the effort. We aren’t stuck with what we were born with. NO baby is born knowing calculus! We all learn the different subjects in school. Similarly, we can all learn to change the way we behave. Our whole lives we are learning and becoming better people. Our experience and knowledge shape who we are not what we were born with. Granted we are born with things that we keep with us as we age but there are certain things that we can change, such as our personality, and our knowledge. Remember you aren’t stuck with what you are born with… you can always change. All you need it the want to do so 🙂 –Pizza

The sad thing about life is: “The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.”

So, in the end, it is our job to motivate ourselves. I have a friend how is being really hard on herself about her grade in a class. She is starting to give up and she cries every day. I feel helpless… I can’t help her in that class. Me, not being her, can’t help her bring her self-esteem up. I can encourage her… which is what I have been doing but in the end, it is her thoughts that are making her feel that way. This experience has taught me that… everyone can encourage you and motivate you but it is YOU who has to take actions to make the changes necessary to do what you have to do. I am trying to motivate and encourage my friend as much as I can.. But I am also telling her that she has to take action too and make the difference in her grade.

ON POINT.png

One thing that I struggle with the most is believing in myself. I often end up comparing myself to others a lot. This I feel like affects the way others see me. I am often shy or awkward in public situations. Not to mention, public speaking, to me, is a nightmare. But I have learned to deal with this and start to see that I should believe in myself. One quote that really resonates with me, especially when I am feeling down, is “if you don’t believe in yourself then no one will”. This quote is really blunt I guess but it does remind me to believe in myself. You know what I have come to realize is that believe in yourself is a really important part of being successful. Like the quote says if you don’t present yourself as confident, nobody is going to want to trust you in whatever you are trying to do. For example, you are trying to pitch a business idea but you don’t think yourself as worth or don’t think your pitch is good enough. This will show off in your performance. I this took me quite a while to learn…. Maybe some of you already know this. To be honest, I actually knew that I had to be confident but there is a difference between knowing it in your head versus knowing it in your heart. I have just recently started to actually believe in myself. It is never too late 🙂 Love yourself ❤ I promise you will thank yourself later 🙂

Vanderlei de Lima

In light of the 2016 Rio Olympics, I wanted to share the truly inspiring story of Vanderlei de Lima from Brazil. As some of you may know, during the 2004 Athens Olympics, Vanderlei de Lima was pushed off the race while he was leading in the men’s marathon. Because of this, he lost his stamina and ended up getting third place. Although, he never was sad about it. He showed great sportsmanship and accepted the bronze like it was gold.

Here is a clip that talks more about him: https://www.facebook.com/olympics/videos/10154460504554216/e3bf586c-6d07-477e-95a8-84dfefb1f814.png

He is an example of what you should do when life throws adversity at you. Instead of feeling bad about what could have happened or what didn’t happen… he was happy about what did. By being grateful for what you have and by not letting life’s downs get you down, you will be a happier person 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday! And keep smiling NO MATTER WHAT!

  1. Don’t be afraid to be yourself: people will love you no matter what
  2. Everyone is still trying to find out who they truly are: This is the time in our lives to figure out who we are. We cannot do that if we are constantly afraid of what others think of us.
  3. It is important to know when to stop: There is a fine line between making a joke and actually hurting someone. Unfortunately, it is hard to tell when you have crossed that line. Be careful of what you say and to whom you say it to.
  4. Understand the importance of being kind: Sometimes, when someone is having a rough day, it can help to be there for that person with a kind heart.

Don’t let them get to you!!: The more we listen to what people start to say about us, the more we believe them, even if what they have to say is not necessarily something good. Keep in mind the kindness you have within you, and don’t ever lose it!

A young violin prodigy was walking down the street one day trying to decide whether or not to pursue a life in music when he came upon the most famous violin teacher in the world. Scarcely believing his luck, he stopped the great teacher and asked if he could play for him, thinking he would abandon his dream of a career in music if the great teacher told him he was wasting his time.

The greater teacher nodded silently for him to begin. So he played, beads of sweat soon appearing on his forehead, and when he finished, he was certain he’d given his finest performance. But the great maestro only shook his head sadly and said, “You lack the fire.”

The young musician was devastated. Nevertheless, he returned home and announced his intention to abandon the violin. Instead, he entered the world of business and turned out to have such a talent for it that in a few short years he found himself richer than he’d ever imagined possible.

Almost a decade later he found himself walking down another street in another city when he happened to spot the great teacher again. He rushed over to him. “I’m so sorry to bother you,” he said, “and I’m sure you don’t remember me, but I stopped you on the street years ago to play my violin for you, and I just want to thank you. Because of your advice, I abandoned my greatest love, the violin, painful as it was, and became a businessman and today enjoy great success, which I owe all to you. But one thing you must tell me: how did you know I didn’t have what it takes? How did you know all those years ago I lacked the fire?”

The great teacher shook his head sadly and said only, “You don’t understand. I tell everyone who plays for me they lack the fire. If you had the fire, you wouldn’t have listened.”

Bumblebee

Many people may believe that you aren’t good enough… there will be a lot of people in your life who will say that.

But you just have to remember this fact: According to scientists, the bumblebee’s body is too heavy and its wing span too small. Aerodynamically, the bumblebee cannot fly. But the bumblebee doesn’t know that and it keeps flying.

When you don’t know your limitations, you go out and surprise yourself. In hindsight, you wonder if you had any limitations. The only limitations a person has are those that are self-imposed.

Even we are not aware of our capabilities.. We just have to do ourselves a favor of not to start thinking that we can’t do something… You CAN do it!
