Tension is who you think you should be

Literally my first thought when I heard this: PREAAAACHH. What kind of person wouldn’t love this quote? Ok, maybe some people, but I feel like it’s a proverb that anyone can relate to. For me, I have finals and AP testing coming up, so I’ve been so stressed out the past few weeks. All I can think about is getting good grades and not failing my junior year before college applications. But in reality, all this built-up tension has to be unhealthy for a young teenage body and mind. All my friends are in the same boat as well, and it’s just that time in our lives where we all are in serious study mode. But I think that we all believe it’s normal to be super stressed out and it’s a natural thing, but to perform well in daily life we need to relax. There’s no if or but to it; it’s just the plain truth. So I’m going to try and relax more as my tests come up, that way I won’t feel so stressed out the day of the test. I want you to promise me that when you feel stressed or when you’re full of tension, that you’ll take some time to relax and some time to heal yourself, just like I will.

  2. You’re a high school student? You impress me with your insight on happiness. Kudos to your abilities. And yes. I do NOT miss the days of final exams and higher level testing. That is more stressful than paying bills. Trust me. I’ve done both. I would rather work to the bone to pay bills than to try to make my brain (that has very limited ability to focus) try to memorize a bunch of information before practically regurgitating it on a piece of paper and putting my interpretation (which in itself takes about an hour to articulate) into my test answers.

I’m glad you have the extreme maturity to realize the things you do and to post dutifully as you do while maintaining good grades. Silver Lining, you make me proud. You bring hope to the overachieving community of the world. You understand that balance is important. I’m 27 years old and can’t relax to save my life. But I will try anyway.

    Thank you for posting.

      • It’s what I do, sweetie. And yeah, you’re going to love college. After college, though, it kind of sucks until you get to be about 35 or 40. Being at the bottom of the totem pole for years gets to you after a while. #truth
