March has been a great month for us, and we hope it has been for you also. This month, our theme was hope and we posted something every day related to this theme. As April approaches, think about how hope has positively affected your life and think about how you can continue having hope. Look forward to another theme that will be starting tomorrow! 🙂
As our theme of the month, hope, comes to an end, I want you to seriously reflect on how you’ve been doing for the past month. Have you been able to regain hope? Have you felt like you’ve lost hope? For me, there have been multiple times when I’ve felt like giving up and losing hope because things weren’t working out the way I wanted them to. For example, when I noticed my math grade went down a lot, I knew I needed to do well on the next test. I had been doing poorly the past few weeks, and I kept telling myself I would do better and raise my grade. However, I had created a habit of not studying to my fullest extent and being lazy, so whenever I didn’t understand a problem I immediately gave up. When I tried studying, I lost hope in a mere few seconds because I thought I would never understand the material. Two days before the test, I went to bed without learning any math concepts for it.
However, the next day was a new start. I decided that I would study as much as possible, because even if I did badly on the test, at least I tried. A new day gave me new chances to study and learn more, and by forcing myself to focus I was actually able to understand things I previously had trouble with. Instead of thinking of it as one day closer to the test, I thought of it as one more day to start anew and try my hardest. By turning my negative thoughts into positive emotions, I was able to do well on my test, and I’m happy to say that my hard work paid off. I’ve been through countless situations like this, whether it be my academics, social life, or personal issues. I hope that if any of you are going through the same struggles, just know that with each new sunrise, which each new start of a day, you have more time and more opportunities to try your hardest and regain your hope. So instead of giving up and letting time just slip by, use each day to it’s fullest extent and live life as hopefully as you can.
If you’re losing hope at school or work, here are some tips to help motivate you!!
- Don’t multitask
- Find reasons to enjoy your work
- Decorate your workspace
- Reward yourself
- Take some time to move around and exercise!
Nothing is more fulfilling than making others happy. So, smile as much as you can.
This phrase is basically a no-brainer. However, many people usually forget the effect that they can have on others. Just like how others smile if you smile, they also frown if you frown. If you’re feeling crappy, others around you will start feeling crappy as well.
I have a friend who is always so happy and upbeat, that whenever I hang out with her I find myself feeling great as well, even though I was feeling bad just a second ago. But since I’m her close friend, I know that sometimes she does feel sad or uneasy inside. We’re all humans- it’s impossible for anyone to be so happy all the time. But I love that she tries to be happy no matter what her situation so as not to affect others. This is something that doesn’t come so easily to everyone, including me, but we can still make an effort to smile more every day. So even if you’re having a bad day, or something unfortunate occurred to you earlier on, try to smile. Because the worst thing that can happen is that you make others feel bad as well, and it’s not the best idea to make others come down with you. And if you smile, you’ll naturally find yourself feeling better as well! Trust me. Seriously.
Talk to someone about your problems. Maybe you can find a new source of hope 🙂
I often wonder… “What am I supposed to do in the future?”
This article does a pretty good job to help break down to just some possibilities of what one can do in the future depending on what their interests are. I really liked it since it helped me see the connection between what I am good at and what I like to do. Granted YOU will be the one in the end who choose the path, but this may help guide you.
I often feel stressed out that I can’t find out what I want to do, or what I am good at. I feel like I will be too late to make the decision and then my whole life will come crumbling down. But that is not true! You need those downs in your life to appreciate the ups when they occur. And I am going to be honest with you, there will be downs and at those times you may feel like you aren’t good enough or you haven’t done enough. BUT you have! You are all worth it… not worthless (don’t you ever tell yourself that). Often we are forced to conform to certain subjects or things due to pressure or just other forces in our lives but like Einstein said,
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
Hope you find what YOU want to do, don’t do what others doing… be yourself since there is no other like you and you should be proud.
Were you able to encourage someone to not give up or lose hope?
